Altera introduces the new Stratix^® III 65-nm device family, designed to implement next-generation high-end systems through advances in architecture, development tools and process technology. Stratix III FPGAs have higher performance, higher density and consume less power than any previous generation of FPGAs.

Stratix III, the world's biggest and fastest FPGAs, feature:

• 25% higher performance and 50% lower power than previous generation FPGAs
• Up to 340K equivalent logic elements (LEs)
• 17 Mbits of memory
• 1,104 user I/Os
• Up to 896 18X18 multipliers operating at 550 MHz
• Best-in-class signal integrity

Lowest Power

Programmable Power Technology, selectable core voltage, and semiconductor enhancements in Stratix III devices, combined with the Quartus^® II Software PowerPlay power analysis and optimization tool, minimize power consumption automatically for your design.

• Programmable Power Technology allows each logic array block (LAB), DSP block and memory block to be set for high speed or low power, depending on design requirements.
• Selectable Core Voltage provides the option to use a core voltage of either 1.1-V or 0.9-V depending on your design's speed and power requirements.
• Quartus II PowerPlay Power Analysis and Optimization Tool analyzes power consumption requirements and works with the Programmable Power Technology to automatically implement each design for lowest power.

High Performance

Stratix III devices also provide a 25% improvement in performance over previous generations of Altera® FPGAs. The Quartus II TimeQuest timing analysis tool, using industry standard Synopsys Design Constraints (SDC), accelerates timing closure to meet your design's performance requirements.
