Usability Testing Program

Usability testing enables Altera to identify the optimum way to design our development software and our corporate web site so that our customers can quickly, accurately, and easily complete their tasks. Altera is looking for people who are interested in participating in usability testing that will help us improve future versions of our development software or our corporate web site.

Our usability testing takes place in our Usability Testing Lab at our headquarters in San Jose, California. If you are within driving distance of San Jose, you can be a candidate for usability testing for our development software or our corporate web site.

What is Usability Testing at Altera?

Usability testing does not involve surveys, user focus groups, or market research. Instead, we carefully observe users as they attempt to complete specific tasks with our development software or on our corporate web site. The goal is for the user to successfully complete the tasks; if the task is not successfully completed, the usability testing team looks for flaws in the development software or the corporate web site.

Typically, one usability test takes about one hour. Each participant is required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. At the end of the test, each participant is offered a token of appreciation or compensation for participating.

Who can Participate?

Software Testing: We are looking for people who have experience using EDA tools, but not necessarily the Quartus® II software. We are looking for all levels of expertise, from novice to expert. Each participant must be over 13 years of age.

Web Site Testing: We are looking for people with experience in the semiconductor industry, but not necessarily with Altera. Each participant must be over 18 years of age.

How Do I Sign Up?

To sign up to be a possible candidate, please send an email to ui@altera.com. Include your experience with EDA tools and the Quartus II software, your experience in the semiconductor industry, your birth date, and your place of work. All personal information will be used in compliance with Altera's Web Site Privacy Policy.
