"Cyclone FPGAs and Nios processors significantly improved the performance of our Voyager Star mobile video conferencing product. With the Nios processor, Altera's solution allowed us to build the exact microprocessor we needed, complete with custom instructions and peripherals. The great integration between hardware modules and software applications allowed us to accelerate specific software algorithms, which was a great advantage. The easy implementation of a complete microprocessor within a low-cost Cyclone FPGA enabled us to eliminate the use of off-the-shelf microprocessors."
