Altera offers powerful software development tools to complement Altera® programmable logic devices (PLDs). The Quartus® II and MAX+PLUS® II software provide integrated, easy-to-use development environments that allow engineers to create leading-edge logic designs for all Altera device families. These systems deliver unmatched flexibility for programmable logic design and allow for seamless integration with industry-standard design entry, synthesis, and verification tools. The Quartus and MAX+PLUS II software help engineers bring designs to market in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
Altera's software engineers use their in-depth software knowledge to develop powerful engineering tools and systems used in the design, simulation, and verification of complex logic designs. Team members are exposed to all aspects of software engineering, including object-oriented design in C++, graphical user interface (GUI) implementation under multiple platforms, interfacing to advanced in-system hardware, network and system-level programming, and component-based system design. Software engineers are also responsible for projects from inception through development and testing. Areas of application development include design entry tools, databases, logic synthesis, logic verification, web design, in-system debugging, porting, and on-line help.
