Title: Software Engineer
Location: United Kingdom
Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the software infrastructure and grid computing environment in the UK and for ensuring the productivity of development engineers. In this role, you will:

  • Undertake infrastructure development projects as a member of the worldwide software infrastructure organization.
  • Develop automation solutions for tasks that are common to multiple development groups in the UK.
  • Assist software and hardware development engineers in the UK in the use of the software infrastructure and grid computing environment.
  • Administer the infrastructure and grid computing environment in the UK, including rolling out new infrastructure.
  • Ensure that the IT department provides adequate computing resources for development engineers in the UK.
  • Ensure that the requirements of development engineers in the UK are met by the worldwide infrastructure organization.

Qualifications include:

  • BS in Computer Science, or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience.
  • Proven ability to develop applications using scripting languages (e.g. shell, perl, python).
  • Experience with Linux or UNIX systems.
  • Proven ability in technical problem solving.
  • Experience in software or hardware development is a plus.
  • Experience in an IT support or system administration environment is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows systems is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Enjoy helping others achieve their goals.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Gain satisfaction from the responsibility of maintaining a smooth-running system.
  • Ability to work as part of an international team.
