Altera Programmable eStore Offers Convenience and Ease-of-Use to Logic Designers

  • Immediate Access to Purchase and Renew Development
  • Tool Subscriptions and License Intellectual Property MegaCore™ Functions
  • Web Site Functionality Underscores Altera's Commitment to Existing Customers

San Jose, Calif., December 6, 1999 -- Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced the opening of the Programmable eStore web site which enables users to purchase Altera® software subscriptions, and license Intellectual Property (IP) MegaCore functions through the Internet. The Programmable eStore serves North America from the Altera web site (http://www.altera.com), and the new IP MegaStore™ site (IP MegaStore).

"Altera's Programmable eStore is the first programmable logic web site to integrate electronic commerce support for both new and existing customers," said David Greenfield, Altera director of development tools marketing. "We are especially pleased to offer our existing customers the on-line functionality to renew annual subscriptions easily."

Programmable eStore customers are not limited to purchasing only entry-level tools. The full range of subscription software and MegaCore products is available via the Programmable eStore site. IP MegaCore functions are ideally suited for web-based distribution as customers can download both the function and the license file for immediate deployment in designs.

Altera uses CyberCash, Inc. (Reston, Va.) for instantaneous credit card processing, and Taxware International, Inc. (Salem, Mass.) for the various state tax rate calculations. These e-commerce enabling technologies allow Altera Programmable eStore customers to immediately receive license files for renewal subscriptions and for IP MegaCore functions. Customers purchasing new subscriptions can expect to receive the software and documentation within two to five days of placing an order.
