Altera Sponsors Unique "$20K for APEX 20K" Programmable Logic Sweepstakes
- Named for Altera's New APEX 20K Family of System-on-a-Programmable-Chip Devices
- Opportunity for a Programmable Logic Designer to Make a Significant Contribution to a Favorite Charity
San Jose, Calif., June 15, 1999--Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced the "$20K for APEX 20K" sweepstakes in which a selected programmable logic designer will receive a new 3Com Palm VII organizer and the opportunity to donate $20,000 to a favorite charity. Altera Corporation will make a $20,000 charitable donation in the winner's name to a charity selected by the winner from an identified list. Named after the company's APEX 20K family of programmable logic devices (PLDs), this unique "$20K for APEX 20K" sweepstakes is open to programmable logic designers and design managers who are U.S. residents. Registration forms will be available in the Altera booth (No. 3016) at the Design Automation Conference in New Orleans from June 21 to June 23, 1999, and on the World Wide Web at URL http://www.altera.com/apex/20kfor20k.html for one month from June 15 to July 15, 1999.
The APEX 20K family, which began shipping last quarter, is the PLD industry's first architecture to successfully integrate product-term and look-up-table logic functionality along with embedded memory capability. The APEX 20K offers breakthrough integration of entire complex systems on a single programmable chip.
"While encouraging designers to move up to the level of System-on-a-Programmable-Chip design," said Erik Cleage, Altera senior vice president of marketing, "we wanted at the same time to afford a particular engineer the opportunity to do something memorable for the community. The $20K for APEX 20K sweepstakes is a unique way to do this. In addition, the 3COM Palm VII organizer will be a useful tool for the winner, and will remind the winner of his or her charitable contribution."
To qualify for the sweepstakes, interested designers must fill out a reply page located at http://www.altera.com/apex/20kfor20k.html anytime between 10 AM PT June 15, 1999 and the sweepstakes end date, 5 PM PT on July 15, 1999.
