Altera and Arrow Consolidate Industry-Leading Partnership

  • With the Combination of Arrow and Wyle, Technical Sales, Support Services, and Supply-Chain Management to Altera Customers Will be Enhanced
  • Altera is Now Arrow's Largest Semiconductor Supplier Representing Over $1B in Sales to North American Customers

Melville, N. Y. and San Jose, Calif., August 7, 2000-Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW), the world's largest distributor of electronic components and computer products, and Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR), a leading programmable logic device (PLD) supplier, today announced that with the combination of the Arrow and Wyle Electronics organizations, Altera customers will receive enhanced world-class technical sales and support services, as well as supply-chain management. Altera customers who have been using Wyle for technical support and supply-chain management will continue to receive those services from Arrow. A significant portion of both Arrow and Wyle technical resources have been dedicated in the past to Altera customers, and Arrow and Altera will continue to invest in these resources to support the ever-increasing demand for Altera products, enabling the widespread adoption of Altera's system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions.

Arrow and Wyle have been Altera partners for over 15 years. By combining forces with Wyle, Arrow will continue to build on these long-standing partnerships. Altera is now the largest supplier within Arrow's semiconductor line card, representing over $1B in sales to North American customers (excluding microprocessors).

"Altera remains committed to using distribution as a primary vehicle for supply chain management as well as to supplement our own technical resources to support customers during their design phase," said Rodney Smith, Altera president and CEO. "Over the years, Arrow has been a reliable and efficient partner, committing the necessary resources in sales and support to service Altera customers." "Providing leading technical support and services is a fundamental part of Arrow's strategy, and a critical part of our partnership with Altera," said Francis M. Scricco, Arrow Electronics president and CEO. "Adding Wyle technical sales and support engineers further strengthens our capability to support Altera's products. We will continue to invest in technical resources."
