Ben Lee Joins Altera as Vice President of Sales for Asia Pacific
San Jose, Calif., October 18, 2000--Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR), a leading supplier of programmable logic devices (PLDs), today announced that Ben Lee has joined the company as vice president of sales for Asia Pacific and managing director of Altera International Limited, reporting to Michael Jacobs, Altera senior vice president of worldwide sales. Mr. Lee's responsibilities consist of leading and managing the company's business strategy and sales growth in Asia Pacific.
"Throughout his extensive career in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Lee has held various management positions in sales and marketing, where he has helped develop and strengthen overall business strategies," said Mr. Jacobs. "We feel confident that Mr. Lee will be instrumental in leading Altera's Asia Pacific organization."
Most recently, Mr. Lee was general manager of the China Region, and business unit director at National Semiconductor Corporation where he more than doubled total revenue in less than three years. He also opened and staffed three design applications labs within 18 months and achieved leading market share against competitors in key market segments. Throughout his extensive career at National Semiconductor Corporation, Mr. Lee held a broad range of sales and marketing management positions in both U.S. headquarters and abroad.
Prior to National Semiconductor, Mr. Lee was vice president of worldwide marketing at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing in Singapore where he was responsible for the company's business planning and marketing activities. Mr. Lee started his extensive career as a system integration engineer at IBM's federal systems division in New York. He holds a B.S.E.E. from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an MBA in marketing from Golden Gate University, San Francisco.
