Altera Confirms Potential Sale of WaferTech Interest
San Jose, Calif., November 07, 2000-Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) announced today that it is in discussions with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) regarding the ultimate purchase of Altera's ownership in WaferTech, LLC by TSMC.
Although final agreements have not been reached, Altera views the potential purchase of Altera's interest in WaferTech favorably. It is contemplated that a final agreement will be completed in either the fourth quarter of 2000 or the first quarter of 2001. Financial details on this transaction will not be disclosed until such an agreement is completed.
