Emerging High-Speed Interface Presentations Now Available on www.altera.com
San Jose, Calif., August 9, 2001--Learn first hand about the explosion of high-speed interfaces by revisiting Tuesday's Emerging High-Speed Interface Conference. All presentations given by industry leading I/O experts at the conference can now be accessed at www.altera.com/highspeed. Hosted by Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR), the conference provided design engineers, product development managers, and system architects in Santa Cara, Calif. and nine remote satellite site locations around the country with the industry's first professional forum focusing on high-speed interfaces in programmable logic devices (PLDs).
"The need for high data transfer rates across all industry segments is creating a proliferation of I/O standards," said Craig Lytle, vice president of Altera's IP Business Unit. "The conference proved to be an excellent opportunity for professionals in our industry to learn and share their views on the industry trends that are driving these emerging physical link-layer, control plane, and switch fabric protocols."
The conference featured a protocol panel that gave attendees an opportunity to learn about emerging high-speed interface protocols from leading experts representing the RapidIO, HyperTransport, system packet interface (SPI), and CSIX protocols. In addition to the overviews presented on each of these protocols, the panel discussion and question and answer session are available on the Altera web site.
All of the I/O standards covered at the conference are supported by Altera APEX II devices and Mercury devices. Altera's APEX II devices, with 1-Gbps True-LVDS circuitry, and Mercury devices, with 1.25 Gbps/channel clock-data recovery (CDR), deliver advanced I/O support for backplane, line-side, and chip-to-chip systems. With these and other Altera products and tools, designers can create an entire system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions for complex applications.
About Altera
Altera Corporation, The Programmable Solutions Company®, was founded in 1983 and is a leading supplier of programmable logic devices (PLDs). Altera's CMOS-based PLDs are user-programmable semiconductor chips that enhance flexibility and reduce time-to-market for companies in the communications, computer peripheral, and industrial markets. By using high performance devices, software development tools, and sophisticated intellectual property cores, system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions can be created with embedded processors, memory, and other complex logic together on a single PLD. Altera common stock is traded on The Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol ALTR. More information on Altera is available on the Internet at http://www.altera.com.
