American Cancer Society Thanks Altera for Contribution to Annual Daffodil Days
This Year's Annual Daffodil Days Fundraiser Raised more than $400,000 for Patient Services, Research and Educational Programs
San Jose, Calif., March 26, 2001--The American Cancer Society today announced that this year's annual Daffodil Days fundraiser was its best ever, generating more than $400,000, and would like to thank Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR), a leading programmable logic device (PLD) supplier, and its employees as the largest contributor.
"Altera and its employees remain dedicated to supporting the community," said Altera CEO John Daane. "By participating in events like Daffodil Days, we are bringing awareness to cancer research, detection, and prevention."
In addition to being a participating sponsor, Altera and its employees raised over $56,000 to be used towards patient services, research and educational programs.
"This is the second consecutive year that Altera was the number one corporate fund-raiser for the Daffodil Days fundraiser," said Angie Carrillo of the American Cancer Society. "Their participation and sponsorship helped make this year's event an overwhelming success."
For the fundraiser, now in its 16th year, the American Cancer Society purchases and distributes bouquets to local schools, homes and businesses. With funds raised through Daffodil Days in Silicon Valley, the American Cancer Society provides services for cancer patients and their families such as transportation and lodging, local research support, and educational programming on cancer awareness, prevention, detection and treatment.
