Misha Burich To Lead Altera's Software Engineering Division
San Jose, Calif., March 7, 2001--Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR), a leading programmable logic device (PLD) supplier, announced that Dr. Misha Burich has joined the company as senior vice president of software engineering, reporting to Denis Berlan, executive vice president and chief operating officer. Burich will be responsible for all aspects of software engineering including internal development and the company's relationships with third party software developers. Burich will also define the vision and strategic direction of Altera's system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) software products and will oversee a staff of more than 250 engineers located around the globe.

Mr. Burich brings more than 20 years of experience to Altera. He has served in a variety of senior R&D and general management positions at EDA companies, including Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Mentor Graphics, and SCS. Burich began his career at Bell Labs Research and later founded Silicon Design Labs, Instinct Corporation and BroadWord Communications.
Burich holds MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota and graduated from the University of Belgrade with an electrical engineering degree.
