Altera Consultants Alliance Program (ACAP®) Expands Capability with Synopsys Professional Services

Design Services Leader Provides Expertise in Complex Chip Design to Altera Customers Worldwide

San Jose, Calif., January 23, 2002 -- Designers implementing system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) designs using Altera Corporation's (Nasdaq: ALTR) devices, tools, third-party intellectual property solutions, and the ARM®-based Excalibur embedded processor solutions can now turn to Synopsys Professional Services' global network of consultants for expertise in implementing next-generation designs that leverage the flexibility of programmable logic. Synopsys Professional Services, a leading provider of design solutions to IC and systems developers worldwide, has joined the Altera Consultants Alliance Program (ACAP®). Employing proven design methodologies and flows, Synopsys' experience in systems-level design and integration enables developers to achieve faster-time-to-market.

"Synopsys Professional Services has the in-house expertise to provide our mutual customers with design services covering all critical phases of the SOPC development process," said Hugh Durdan, vice president of technical services at Altera.

Also an ARM Technology Access Program (ATAP) partner, Synopsys Professional Services possesses the expertise to help SOPC designers smoothly deploy Altera's ARM-based Excalibur embedded-processor solutions, which combine logic, memory and an ARM922T processor core.

"We focus on helping customers develop advanced silicon solutions," said Glen Jones, director of strategic partnerships for Synopsys Professional Services. "Increasingly, those solutions involve programmable logic, an aspect of chip development with which we have extensive experience. With Altera's complete portfolio of devices, design tools and intellectual property, we can solve our mutual customers' development challenges in the shortest amount of time."
