George A. Papa To Lead Altera's Global Sales Force
San Jose, Calif., February 20, 2002 -- Altera Corporation (Nasdaq: ALTR) today announced that George A. Papa has joined the company as senior vice president of global sales. Mr. Papa, who brings to Altera an impressive 30-year sales track record, will be responsible for defining and executing Altera's global sales strategy and managing the company's direct sales force and distribution partners in North America, Europe and the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Japan. Mr. Papa will report directly to John Daane, Altera's President and CEO.
"As Altera continues to innovate, our programmable logic technology is quickly being leveraged in new applications and markets," said Mr. Daane. "George's experience will be key in expanding Altera's reach and successfully opening more doors for our system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions."
Mr. Papa joins Altera from Marvell Data Communications Group where he served as vice president of worldwide sales. He held the same role and title at Level One Communications from 1997 until 2000. Previously, he was vice president of sales for North America at Siemens Components where he served for nine years. His career also includes various sales roles at Intel and Tektronix. Mr. Papa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.
