Altera Opens Sales Office in India
Bangalore, India, December 5, 2002Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced the opening of a new sales office in India to tap into the large potential for programmable logic in the region and the nearby ASEAN countries. Companies in the communications, industrial, and computer storage industries in India and the ASEAN region will have broader support throughout the sales and design process when leveraging Altera's system-on-programmable-a-chip (SOPC) solutions.
"With the rising cost of ASIC development, design engineers in India and the ASEAN region are now leaning more and more towards programmable logic for their system solutions, confirming the trend that we are seeing in other parts of the world," said George Papa, senior vice president of global sales at Altera. "The inherent flexibility of FPGAs makes it a low-risk and compelling option for companies facing cost and time-to-market pressures."
Altera's powerful Stratix devices, the low-cost Cyclone device family for volume applications, the popular Nios® soft core processor, and the powerful easy-to-use, new Quartus® II design software provide customers with a powerful development platform to take their system from concept through to production on time and on budget.
Ben Lee, Altera's vice president of sales for Asia Pacific, commented, "With the support of our distribution partners in India-Arrow Electronics and Achieva Components-we intend to aggressively expand the reach of our SOPC solutions."
