Altera Names New Chief of European Division
San Jose, Calif., September 27, 2002—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced today that Michel Attias has joined the company as vice president and managing director of Altera Europe. Attias spearheads all sales and marketing functions for Altera's European division, with the objective of growing market share in the region. Based in the company's European headquarters in the United Kingdom, he manages the sales offices in London, Munich, Paris, Turin, Stockholm and Helsinki.
Attias directly reports to George Papa, Altera's senior vice president of global sales, who states, "Michel is taking over as the head of our European region at a very exciting time for Altera. The combination of his experience plus Altera's powerful arsenal of products such as the Stratix™ devices, the recently announced low-cost Cyclone™ devices, plus our best-in-class Excalibur™ ARM® and Nios® embedded processor solutions will enable us to gain market share and win in new sectors."
Attias- industry experience includes 18 years in a variety of senior sales and management positions at Texas Instruments and LSI Logic's European divisions. Most recently, he was vice president of sales at Solid Technology. A native of France, Attias is a graduate in electronic and computer sciences from Ecole Nationale Superieure de l'Aeronautique in France.
