Altera Tops Daffodil Days Fundraiser-For Fourth Straight Year

Altera Helps American Cancer Society Raise Funds for Patient Services, Research, and Educational Programs

San Jose, Calif., May 6, 2003 -- Continuing its strong support of the American Cancer Society, Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) helped the American Cancer Society generate more than $400,000 through its annual Daffodil Days fundraiser. For each of the past 4 years, Altera has been the number one Bay Area contributor for the fundraiser, raising over $226,000 in total for patient services, cancer research, community education, and advocacy programs. This year alone Altera raised more than $55,000 through corporate sponsorship, employee contributions, and Altera's matching funds program.

"Altera and its employees remain committed to supporting the annual Daffodil Days fundraiser," said Jack Fitzhenry, vice president of human resources at Altera. "We are honored to be a significant force over the years in the success of the program."

The American Cancer Society's annual Daffodil Days campaign sells and distributes bouquets to local schools, businesses and hospitals. With funds raised through Daffodil Days in the Bay Area, the American Cancer Society provides services for cancer patients and their families such as transportation, local research support, and educational programs on cancer awareness, prevention, detection, and treatment.

"For the past four years, Altera Corporation has been the number one Bay Area contributor," said Rose Simmons, American Cancer Society vice president, Silicon Valley/Central Coast region. "We are pleased to acknowledge the company's commitment to the community and our cancer research, treatment, and awareness programs."
