Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced its participation at the GSPx Conference, September 27-30 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, Calif. Altera's vice president of the IP business unit, Craig Lytle, will participate in two panel discussions. The first panel, Are Stand-Alone DSPs Passé?, will discuss how FPGAs deliver the signal processing performance required for today's communications, video, imaging and military applications, and why stand-alone DSPs cannot. In the second panel, DSP Intellectual Property Blocks - Boon or Bust?, participants will learn about the dynamic, overall nature of DSP IP blocks. Implementing DSP IP blocks with a high-performance FPGA clears bottlenecks and allows DSP software engineers to leverage existing software code while enjoying the benefits of hardware acceleration.
In addition to presenting 12 papers, Altera representatives will be demonstrating its DSP solutions, including an FPGA co-processor for a TI C6000 DSP, where processor bottlenecks are offloaded in the FPGA. Another demonstration will focus on image processing applications that leverage the DSP blocks integrated in Altera's Stratix® FPGAs.
