Altera Raises More Than a Quarter Million Dollars for Cancer Research; Receives Award

Leading Sponsor of American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days Five Years Running

San Jose, Calif., June 23, 2004—The American Cancer Society today honored Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) with its Corporate Champion Excellence in Volunteerism Award for Altera’s continued support over the years.  In its five years as the leading sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days campaign in Santa Clara County, Altera has raised more than a quarter million dollars in the fight against cancer.  Through employee contributions and Altera’s matching funds program, the company contributed more than $57,000 this year towards the American Cancer Society’s ongoing campaign in the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days campaign sells and distributes bouquets to local schools, businesses, churches, and hospitals.  “Altera has provided tremendous support for the Daffodil Days campaign over the past five years,” said Shelby Downs, corporate relations director, American Cancer Society.  “Their sponsorship will help us to provide continued support for cancer patients and their families through programs such as transportation, local research support, and educational programs on cancer awareness, prevention and detection, and treatment.”  This year alone, the campaign raised approximately $400,000.  Money raised through the Daffodil Days campaign funds the American Cancer Society’s research, education programs, advocacy, and services for cancer patients and their families.

“Altera and its employees are totally committed to supporting the American Cancer Society’s dedication and drive to eradicate cancer,” said Jack Fitzhenry, Altera’s vice president of human resources.  “It is our honor to be able to be a part of such a worthy cause.”
