ZTE Names Altera as Best Supplier of the Year
San Jose, Calif., May 17, 2005—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced it has been selected by ZTE Corporation as “Best Supplier of the Year” for 2005. The award recognizes Altera’s innovative programmable solutions and technical support and the critical role it plays in supporting ZTE’s product development. ZTE leverages Altera’s Stratix® and Stratix II FPGAs, the industry’s highest-performance FPGAs, low-cost CycloneTM FPGAs as well as the Nios® soft embedded processor in their existing and next-generation communication products, including wireline networks, wireless basestations, transmission, and digital subscriber line access multiplexer (DSLAM) systems.
“Receiving this award validates our commitment to deliver best-in-class products and services to our customers,” said Danny Biran, vice president of product and corporate marketing at Altera. “With ZTE, we’ve successfully developed a partnership well beyond the traditional supplier-vendor relationship. Our ability to understand and satisfy ZTE’s organizational and business objectives has resulted in this award, which we are very honored to receive.”
“The partnership between Altera and ZTE has existed for more than 10 years, with Altera consistently providing strong and dependable support for our communication business,” said Li Lin, material director at ZTE. “This year, however, Altera stands out for their ability to deliver the most innovative programmable solutions on schedule and provide excellent technical support. This combination enabled ZTE to achieve its objectives of high quality, cost-competitive sourcing, and supply stability.”
ZTE presents the award each year to suppliers who meet a wide range of performance criteria. Winners are chosen as a result of a survey of the company’s staff, including development and material engineers and purchasing employees, to investigate partnership satisfaction. Suppliers are evaluated on cost, delivery, quality, and service records. Altera scored highest on all marks, resulting in the receipt of this year’s award.
