Altera’s Stratix III FPGA Receives “LSI of the Year” Award
Tokyo, May 17, 2007—Altera Japan, Ltd. today announced that its high-performance, low power Stratix III FPGAs were awarded the “LSI of the Year Outstanding Performance Award” in the device category at the 14th annual awards ceremony sponsored by Semiconductor Industry News.
By combining high density, high performance, low-power and a rich feature set, the Stratix FPGA series allows designers to integrate more functions and maximize system performance. Stratix III FPGAs features two new technologies that dramatically lower power while meeting high-performance design requirements. Programmable Power Technology enables every programmable logic array block (LAB), DSP block and memory block to independently operate at high-speed or low-power mode and Selectable Core Voltage provides designers with the choice of 1.1 V core voltage for high-performance applications or 0.9 V core voltage for the lowest power consumption.
Stratix III devices offer the highest memory-to-logic ratio and DSP performance compared to any other FPGAs in the industry. Stratix III devices are based on a production-qualified, 65-nm process technology from TSMC.
”This award recognizes the high performance and low power consumption of Stratix III FPGAs,” said Professor Toshinori Sueyoshi, of Kumamoto University and a judge for the awards program. “The innovative and unique power-savings features of Stratix III FPGAs demonstrate Altera’s dedication to helping system manufacturers meet their design requirements and get to market quickly.”
We are extremely honored to receive the LSI of the Year Outstanding Performance Award for our Stratix III FPGAs from one of Japan's leading technology publications,” said Robert Blake, Altera’s vice president of product planning. “This award demonstrates our on-going leadership in the FPGA market. We remain committed to offering innovative programmable logic solutions that enable the rapid and effective design of complex, high-performance systems.”
The LSI of The Year awards ceremony was held May 16 at the Embedded Systems Expo 2007 in Tokyo Big Sight.
