John Shoemaker Joins Altera Board
San Jose, Calif., March 22, 2007—Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) today announced that John Shoemaker, former executive vice president of Sun Microsystems will join the company’s board of directors. Mr. Shoemaker served 14 years in various executive management roles at Sun Microsystems, most recently as executive vice president and general manager of the Computer Systems Division. Prior to Sun, he spent 21 years in management roles at Xerox Corporation. He is currently an investor, non-executive chairman of the board of directors of SonicWALL, Inc. and is a member of the board of trustees for Hannover College.
The company also announced the retirement of two long time directors. Paul Newhagen, one of the founders of the company and William Terry, who has served on the board since 1994, will retire at the end of their current terms and will not seek re-election at the shareholders’ meeting on May 8, 2007.
