Course Description
In this class, you will learn advanced features of Altera’s Qsys system level integration tool and expand your knowledge of the Quartus® II FPGA design software v. 11.1. You will learn how to simulate Qsys systems in ModelSim-Altera using Avalon bus functional simulation models, exercise and monitor system behavior with the System Console, and build hierarchical Qsys systems. The class provides a significant hands-on component, where you will gain exposure to tool usage as well as system design.At Course Completion
You will be able to:- Test custom components and entire systems with the Avalon Verification Suite (or Bus Functional Models) in the ModelSim-Altera simulator
- Perform in-system diagnosis & control via System Console
- Exploit Qsys’ hierarchical capability to add flexibility & scalability to your design
- Integrate CPU subsystems into a project
Prerequisites
We recommend completing the following courses:- Introduction to the Qsys System Integration Tool
- The Quartus II Software Design Series: Foundation (Instructor-led Training)
- The Quartus II Software Design Series: Foundation (Online Training)
- Using the Quartus II Software: An Introduction
Skills Required
- Background in digital logic design
- Working knowledge of the Quartus II design software
- Knowledge of HDL coding methodology (helpful but not mandatory)
- Completion of the “Introduction to the Qsys System Integration Tool” class
