Course Description

In this training, you will understand why good power distribution network (PDN) design is essential for proper device operation. You will learn about the challenges involved with PDN design for high-speed devices and how to overcome them. Specifically, you will learn about the Altera PDN design tools available from the Altera web site and how to use them. You will learn how to determine printed circuit board (PCB) decoupling design targets and to follow the decoupling design flow using the PDN design tools. Finally, you will learn some good PCB layout practices that reduce parasitic inductance of PCB decoupling capacitors and improve their effectiveness.

You will be able to:

• Understand PDN decoupling methodology behind the Altera PDN design tool
