Training Partner Profile: ALSE

Advanced Logic Synthesis for Electronics (ALSE) logo

Overview

Founded in 1993, Advanced Logic Synthesis for Electronics (ALSE) serves the digital design community by offering design services and training courses. ALSE is the company selected by Doulos for delivering their HDL Training Courses in France, and ALSE has designed unique contents and methodologies to help engineers take full advantage of Altera® devices and tools in the shortest and most efficient way.

A key factor in the excellent customer feedback about the training courses delivered by ALSE is the primary focus by all ALSE instructors on ASIC/FPGA design. ALSE has expertise in all market segments, from consumer to aerospace, automotive, avionics, medical, oil research, radio-astronomy, broadcasting, video and more.  Application expertise includes:

  • FPGA-based complex industrial systems
    • ALSE specializes in highly compact and reliable designs using FPGAs for data acquisition and processing systems, complex regulation, motor control, and power to high-volume applications in very harsh environments
  • Hardware DSP
    • ALSE has Implemented many FPGA-based digital signal processing (DSP) systems used in various fields ranging from electronic war systems to radio-astronomy to real-time acquisition
  • Dynamic RAM controllers
    • ALSE has developed many specific controllers (SDRAM, DDR, DDRII) for customers needing very high performance or data integrity.
  • Ethernet links
    • Tri-speed MAC, hardware stacks, Gigabit data transfer kit, and SGDMA
  • Video systems
    • ALSE offers intellectual property (IP) such as a very compact dynamic resizing engine, and a RAM-less full graphics controller that fits in the smallest and least expensive FPGA devices
  • Audio systems
    • ALSE offers several audio system application IPs including a complete audio processor with tone control, InfraRed links, and automatic loudness control
  • Avionics systems
    • Arinc 429, Ethernet, secure systems, front panel control, processor bridges
  • Redesign of obsolete board systems in FPGAs

Instructor-Led Training

ALSE offers the following instructor-led courses in France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Belgium:

Course Title Description
Designing Altera devices
using Quartus II Software
Complete 3-day training course covering all aspects of Altera FPGA design from basic techniques to the most advanced topics. Includes 21 practical exercises developed by ALSE to teach how to unleash the power of Quartus® II software. The course focuses on tools and techniques that help design faster, more compact, and safer systems, in less time.
Altera SOPC and Nios® II Processor Complete 3-day training course covering both the hardware aspects of building the computing platform (first 40 percent of the course) and the software side for programming the SOPC (the remaining 60 percent of the course). NOTE: ALSE instructors strongly recommend that hardware and the software development teams attend BOTH segments of the course, as that is the only way to assure they can take full advantage of the new concepts and benefits of the SOPC paradigm
