Senior Vice President, Research and Development, Altera

Dr. Burich joined Altera’s in December 2000 as senior vice president of software engineering and in 2004 he also assumed the responsibility for system engineering. He currently manages R&D for all new FPGA architectures, software products, embedded processors, intellectual property libraries, and system solutions. Prior to joining Altera, he served as a vice president of R&D at various EDA companies, including Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics, Silicon Compiler Systems, and Silicon Design Labs, which he co-founded in 1984. Dr. Burich began his career at Bell Laboratories in 1978.

Division Manager, Acceleration Strategies, AMD

Mr. O’Flaherty leads AMD’s strategic Torrenza platform acceleration project. The Torrenza project includes working closely with engineering and outside groups in developing roadmaps for innovative technologies and application-specific silicon solutions. Mr. O’Flaherty joined AMD in 2003, just as the AMD Opteron™ processor was launched, to develop and execute AMD’s market penetration strategy for compute intensive markets.

Prior to AMD, Mr. O’Flaherty worked in an online gaming start-up, Into Networks, where he was the Director of Operations with a global network that included Western Europe, Japan, Korea, and Singapore. In addition to developing the global service architecture, he built the customer service and technical field sales groups. Mr. O’Flaherty has a strong background in Internet technologies and software. Previous positions include regional VP in IT infrastructure consulting, and COO for an successful open source software and services company. Mr. O’Flaherty holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Yale University.
