Automotive Standards and Qualifications
Altera is committed to supporting the automotive industry’s quality and reliability requirements with top-notch, defect-free products. Altera has an aggressive zero parts per million (PPM) roadmap and continues to make strides in achieving its goal. To date, Altera has had a solid track record in shipping quality products to the automotive industry.
AEC-Q100
AEC-Q100 is a set of stress test qualifications for automotive integrated circuits (ICs). Altera is a member of the automotive electronics council (AEC). For more details on Altera’s AEC-Q100 testing or device-specific results, contact the automotive quality group at customer-quality@altera.com.
TS-16949
Altera is an ISO 9001:2000 certified supplier. The TS-16949 standard is the automotive portion of the ISO 9001:2000. All of Altera’s automotive-grade semiconductor products are manufactured at TS-16949 compliant facilities (see Figure 1). Altera’s manufacturing wafer fab partners (TSMC and Wafertech) and its packaging and test partners (ASE and AMKOR) are TS-16949 certified and registered (see Table 1).

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
PPAP, 3rd edition, Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) is one of the key requirements for the automotive industry. A PPAP document outlines all the manufacturing quality processes that an integrated circuit (IC) manufacturer undertakes. To date, Altera has successfully provided over 70 PPAP submissions to various automotive customers. - Devices can be programmed many different ways. TS-16949 compliance is achieved if devices are pre-programmed by Altera or other TS-16949-compliant facility.
