Altera and our partner Eutecus offer a range of video analytics solutions designed to provide the highest performance, lowest cost and lowest power single FPGA-based solutions for your system.
- 1080p30 high-definition (HD) in-camera video analytics solutions
- 4-channel standard definition (SD) video analytics solutions for DVR/NVRs
1080p High-Definition Video Analytics
The world's first FPGA-based 1080p30 HD video analytics solution gives you the capability to integrate intelligent HD video analytics into your IP camera using a single, low-cost Cyclone® IV FPGA. With its ability to process high-resolution images at 30 frames per second, it is ideal for traffic management applications, such as vehicle counting, parking lot monitoring, and detection of pedestrians, potential accidents, and red light violations. For more information, contact your local Altera® sales office or send an email.
Processing 1080p30 HD video real-time is only possible with an FPGA-based solution. This gives you:
- Greater accuracy and probability of detection
- Superior image quality
- Fewer false alerts
- Ability to track multiple complex events simultaneously

Video Analytics 1080p30 Technology
Our technology leverages algorithms that take advantage of the inherent parallelism possible in FPGA hardware to achieve your desired performance target. It leverages Eutecus' patented multicore video analytics engine which combines massively parallel algorithms and multicore architectures that are optimized to run efficiently in low-cost FPGA-based hardware and software implementations, as shown in figure 1.

4-Channel D1 Standard-Defintion Video Analytics for DVRs/NVRs
Adding video analytics to SD camera streams in a cost-effective manner is a challenge for analytics providers as the traditional software-only solution does not scale as the number of streams increases. Traditional analytics solutions require dedicated devices for each video stream which can increase cost and power consumption beyond the application limits.
Altera and Eutecus developed the world's first FPGA-based video analytics solution that lets you analyze four D1 (480p30) video channels simultaneously in a single device as shown in Figure 2. This single-chip solution also can be easily expanded beyond 4 channels at a reduced frame rate for 8- or 16-channel systems. This allows you to:
- Lower cost and reduce board space by analyzing 4, 8, or 16 video streams in parallel in a single device
- Lower power consumption compared to software- and multiple device-based solutions
- Flexibility to modify rules for various markets including transportation, city, industrial, and government surveillance applications
