Altera offers a number of ways to maximize engineering resources, including interactive, information sharing Customer Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, pre-optimized intellectual property (IP)/ third-party partnerships, and silicon solutions.
Customer Advisory Board Meetings
Altera annually budgets and spends roughly $125 million on research and development. You can leverage this investment by engaging in CAB meetings. CAB meetings are an all day technical event to discuss a customer's next-generation architecture and how it aligns with Altera's next-generation FPGA roadmap.
Intellectual Property & Third-Party Partnerships
Pre-optimized IP cores are essential for saving engineering resources. Altera offers a rich ecosystem of MegaCore® functions and third-party design partners who help extend the available library of IP cores.
Silicon Offering
The cost in time, dollars, and engineering resources when developing an ASIC is well quantified. Specifically addressing the need to utilize engineering resources effectively, Altera offers HardCopy® ASICs. HardCopy ASICs feature a unique FPGA front-end design methodology to deliver the lowest-risk, fastest time-to-market solution in the industry. Simply stated, you can provide Altera your register transfer level (RTL) designs and receive fully functional silicon in roughly 18 weeks. You can prototype your designs in an Altera® FPGA and seamlessly transition to a HardCopy ASIC.
Marketing
As a provider of silicon solutions, Altera is exposed to a broad range of test and measurement customers. Through this exposure, Altera’s test & measurement sub-segment team has developed strong market-segment specific knowledge.
To sharpen this knowledge further, the test and measurement team develops sub-segment-specific strategic plans that quantify market dynamics (business and technical), key players, and architectural trends and best practices. Altera's expertise can help you leverage market-segment knowledge and shared customer base as well as engage in the Altera Executive Sponsor Program. The program allows Altera executives to facilitate/sponsor technology and marketing exchanges.
