BitSim is an independent design house specializing in FPGA and ASIC designs. Based in Stockholm and Växjö in Sweden, the company offers a range of services, including design consultation and project management. BitSim's 27 designers have extensive experience that covers digital and analog electronics, signal processing, and verification. The company also designs circuit boards and complete systems.
BitSim has design and engineering capabilities in the following areas:
- Embedded processors and systems on a chip (SOC)—several of BitSim's ASIC consultants work with advanced designs and verification of systems that include both software and hardware through embedded processors, with pre-designed building blocks (intellectual property (IP)) used more and more often. BitSim actively participates in the embedded market and has formed a group to guide these interests.
- Digital signal processing (DSP)—BitSim has solid DSP experience, processing signals directly in hardware for digital video, digital radio, radar and mobile telephony applications, and other applications.
- Verification—most BitSim consultants are heavily involved with the verification processes, giving BitSim valuable knowledge to effectively leverage in the planning and selection of design workflows.
- Digital video—a specialized group consisting of several consultants with extensive experience of digital video projects operates within BitSim. The group has developed a video multiplexer for MPEG2 video streams, among other projects.
Altera Design Experience
BitSim offers the following reference designs, development boards, and IP:
- Wireless upgrade of hardware over TCP/IP. This BitSim product combines a Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) model with Altera's Nios® soft embedded processor core. FTP via a dial-up connection to the FPGA transmits the bit file-based upgrades.
- BADGE, an Altera Megafunction Partners Program (AMPPSM) approved certified IP solution, designed to drive accelerated display graphics.
