Quartus II Web Edition Software Download the free Quartus II Web Edition software, which supports all MAX II and MAX CPLDs.
Learn to use Quartus II Software Watch these self-paced, online demonstrations to learn how to become a programmable logic designer in about one hour, even if you are new to programmable logic or have never used the Quartus II software.
IP MegaStore™ Select off-the-shelf intellectual property (IP) core functions from Altera and Altera's partners. IP cores are optimized for Altera devices, reducing design and test time, and can be evaluated in hardware and simulation prior to licensing.
Development Kit Resources
Devkit Icon MAX IIZ Demonstration Board

This battery powered demonstration board enables you to measure the EPM240Z device's low-power capability and highlight several common uses for CPLDs. There is a power consumption measurement design example included with the demonstration board CD-ROM. The board and design example allow you to take power measures (with a portable digital multi-meter) when the board is operating in four modes of system operation: high speed, low speed, standby, and off. You can probe the following four different power rails:

  • Core only (EPM240Z CPLD)
  • I/O bank (EPM240Z CPLD)
  • I/O bank 2 (EPM240Z CPLD)
  • Entire demonstration board

Contact your local Altera sales representative to request this demonstration board.

MAX II Development Kit This PCI edge connector kit is the best value for the money. It comes packed with features (LCD display, USB, SPI, JTAG, power meter, temperature gauge, expansion headers), two reference designs (PCI and USB), and design examples.
MAX II Micro Kit The lowest priced development kit available plugs right into your computer's USB port. When you are done with your CPLD design, re-use this board as a USB-BlasterTM download cable to program Altera FPGAs.
MAX II Starter Kit Another low-price development kit with many features.
MAX II LED Kit See how to use MAX II CPLDs to drive LEDs.
