To migrate FPGA designs to fixed-function devices quickly and effortlessly, Altera offers HardCopy Stratix™ devices that are functionally identical to a corresponding Stratix™ FPGA's design. To migrate a high-density Stratix FPGA design to an equivalent HardCopy Stratix device, Altera requires output files directly from the Quartus® II software. However, all the required design tools are available in the Quartus II software version 3.0 and later, so there is no need for costly ASIC development tools.
Table 1 provides a list of design utilities available for HardCopy Stratix devices.
| Table 1. HardCopy Stratix Design Utilities | |
| Design Utility | Description |
|---|---|
| Quartus II Software Support | Discover the feature-rich, state-of-the-art software that helps you design high-density Stratix FPGAs and HardCopy Stratix devices. |
| FPGA vs. ASIC Cost Calculator | Compare the total cost of using an FPGA (or a HardCopy fixed-function device) versus an ASIC. |
| BSDL File Downloads | Learn about using BSDL files for testing Altera devices. |
| HardCopy Stratix PowerPlay Early Power Estimator | Estimate the power consumed by HardCopy Stratix devices based on typical conditions. |
