HardCopy System Development Methodology

Altera's seamless prototyping for HardCopy® ASICs provides a system design process with the flexibility of FPGAs and the lower power and cost of ASICs for your power-sensitive and/or high-volume applications. Design and verify your system hardware and software once, at-speed with a Stratix® series FPGA, and deliver your system to market sooner (see Figure 1).

When your system is ready you have the option of performing market testing or initial production with Stratix series FPGAs. If for power or other reasons production requires HardCopy devices, Altera's HardCopy Design Center provides a fast, predictable, turnkey process that includes full test insertion—so no design-for-test effort is required from your design team. In as little as eight weeks, you will have fully tested, production quality samples available (see Figure 2).

Figure 2 shows the steps in the HardCopy delivery process.

Volume production begins once you approve the samples and place your production purchase order. Devices are ready for shipment in as little as eight weeks from approval/purchase order.
