Stratix® FPGAs are Altera's first-generation in the Stratix device family. For most applications, this device generation is superseded by the award winning 90-nm Stratix II and the leading edge, 65-nm Stratix III generations of FPGAs. Stratix III devices offer all of the features found in previous generations of Stratix devices, and are the lowest power high-performance FPGAs.

First generation Stratix FPGAs are still the FPGA of choice for military and aerospace applications where a wide operating temperature range is required. For details on Altera's military temperature range offerings, see the Military Temperature Device Support page.
