Quartus II Interoperability With Third-Party ASIC Design Tools
Altera works closely with EDA partners to ensure excellent interoperability between the Quartus® II FPGA development software and the synthesis, simulation and verification, partitioning, and debug software available from our third-party EDA tool vendors. Quartus II software offers scripting capabilities that can fit directly into existing ASIC design flows, so there are very few changes to the compilation flow required to implement the design in an Altera® FPGA.
Table 1 provides a list of the EDA tools and EDA tool partners Altera currently works with to provide best-in-class solutions for ASIC prototyping.

In addition to EDA tool vendors, Altera partners with GiDEL, who has produced several development boards based on Altera's products. GiDEL's PROCStar II Development Platform supports up to four EP2S180 devices, providing a platform capable of implementing designs of up to 8.8 million ASIC gates.
