Altera's Transceiver Signal Integrity Development Kit, Stratix® II GX Edition enables a thorough evaluation of Stratix II GX transceiver signal integrity by allowing you to:
- Evaluate transceiver performance from 622 Mbps to 6.375 Gbps
- Generate and check pseudo-random bit sequence (PRBS) patterns via an easy to use GUI
- Dynamically change Voltage Output Differential (Vod), Pre-emphasis and Equalization settings to optimize transceiver performance for your channel
- Perform jitter analysis
- Verify PMA compliance to PCI Express, Gigabit Ethernet, XAUI, CEI-6G, Serial RapidIOTM, HD-SDI and other major standards
This development kit includes a board design tutorial developed by Dr. Eric Bogatin, an industry leading expert in signal integrity and board design. The tutorial provides insights into the design of high-speed serial links.

Development Kit Contents
The Transceiver Signal Integrity Development Kit, Stratix II GX Edition includes:
- Stratix II GX development board (see Figure 1)
- Stratix II GX EP2SGX90EF1152C3 FPGA
- Six full-duplex transceiver channels, brought out to SMA connectors
- One microstrip channel
- Four stripline channels from the same transceiver quad -- all the trace lengths are matched across channels
- One channel with 40-inch board trace length on transmit and 5-inch board trace length on receive to simulate the degradation associated with backplanes or long traces
- FPGA device configuration options
- Passive serial configuration via an on-board EPCS64 device which contains pre-loaded factory reference design
- JTAG configuration via USB-Blaster™ download cable
- Flexible clocking options
- On-board 25-Mhz and 156.25-MHz clock oscillators
