Colorado Electronic Product Design, Inc.: HSA II
Features
- Dual-channel, 8-bit analog/digital (A/D) converter, single-channel digital/analog (D/A) converter, 40 million samples per second (MSPS)
- Parallel digital interface for ease of access to converter data using FPGA input/output (I/O) pins
- Can be powered via host board (3.3-V analog and 3.3-V digital) or with external 5.0 to 7.5 V of direct current input
- Mates directly to several El Camino, Avnet, and CEPD prototyping boards
- Digital interface can be connected to other target application boards via a ribbon cable
- Reference DSP-in-FPGA design example and test code provided
Description
Developers can access the analog world from their FPGA board with a simple interface to CEPD's high-speed analog (HSA) I/O board. The HSA II has a parallel interface, so designers do not need to design a complicated serial data and command interface in the FPGA. The parallel interface connects directly to an FPGA's I/O pins through a connector or ribbon cable. Figure 1 shows a block diagram of the board.

Figure 2 shows the HSA II board connected to an El Camino EP20K240 board.

Altera Devices on Board
The HSA II board does not contain Altera® devices; it is designed to interface to Altera prototyping boards.
