Altera Partner Profile: BittWare, Inc.

Overview
Founded in 1989, BittWare designs and manufactures commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) signal processing solutions based on a hybrid architecture combining Altera's FPGA technology with Analog Devices’ SHARC digital signal processors. Headquartered in Concord, NH with engineering and sales offices in Leesburg, VA, Phoenix, AZ, and Belfast, Northern Ireland, BittWare has experienced continuous sales growth and has an active customer base of over 200.
In 2004, BittWare opened its UK branch with its acquisition of EZ-DSP, Ltd., a privately held company based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Acquiring EZ-DSP, one of the leading software developers for Analog Devices' TigerSHARC processors, strengthened BittWare's position as a market-leading producer of COTS embedded computing solutions based on TigerSHARC technology for the military/defense, government, and commercial markets.
BittWare's hybrid products, designed for Altera’s FPGA and Analog Devices' TigerSHARC families, have been developed for a wide range of form factors and applications. The company offers a wide selection of standard or tailored digital signal processing (DSP) and FPGA hardware and software solutions that enable OEMs to quickly and cost-effectively get their products to market.

Description |
Supported Altera® Devices |
| SPR Development System |
The Software Programmable Reconfiguration (SPR) development system provides engineers with a system platform to explore software reconfiguration of waveform functionality for high-end signal processing applications such as Software Defined Radio (SDR). The platform provides a flexible, portable, low-cost environment for SPR development in an AMC and MicroTCA environment, enabling designers to quickly and cost-effectively bring their waveform designs to life. |
Cyclone® III |
| B2-AMC |
The B2-AMC is a Universal Baseband Processing module featuring an Altera Stratix II FPGA; a TigerSHARC DSP cluster; and a full-height, single wide Advance Mezzanine Card. It is network interface-configurable to support the Serial RapidIO®protocol, PCI Express, gigabit Ethernet, and XAUI. |
Stratix® II |
| GT-3U-cPCI |
The GT-3U-cPCI is a ruggedized hybrid signal processing 3U CompactPCI board featuring an Altera Stratix II GX FPGA; a TigerSHARC DSP cluster; and BittWare's ATLANTiS architecture providing 2 Gbytes per second of external I/O throughput; DDR2 SRAM/QDR SDRAM and 64 MB of flash memory. |
Stratix II GX |
| GX-AMC |
The GX-AMC (GXAM) is a mid-size, single-wide AdvancedMC that can be attached to Advanced Telecom Compute Architecture (AdvancedTCA) carriers or other cards equipped with AMC bays, and used in MicroTCA systems. The GXAM features a high-density Altera Stratix II GX FPGA, BittWare’s ATLANTiS framework (implemented in the FPGA), a front panel I/O interface, a control plane interface via BittWare’s FINe interface bridge, an IPMI system management interface, and a configurable 8x SERDES interface supporting a variety of protocols. It also provides 10/100 Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, two banks of DDR2 SDRAM, one bank of QDR2 SRAM, and flash memory for booting the FPGA and FINe |
Stratix II GX |
| Tetra-PMC+ |
The Tetra-PMC+ (TRPM) board is a high-speed analog input board that provides data capture for four 14-bit A/D channels running at up to 105 MHz. The board streams the data directly to an Altera Cyclone II FPGA, which provides A/D control, data distribution, and front-end processing capabilities. A 32-bit, 66-MHz PCI interface and four TigerSHARC link ports make the captured data available to the host board. |
