Overview
Gleichmann Electronics Research (GE-Research) was founded in October, 2004, in Hagenberg Austria and is part of the German-based MSC technology development group with more than 1,800 employees. GE-Research is the research branch of the Gleichmann ASIC Development Centre Europe, based in Munich, Germany.
GE-Research offers technical support and solutions for ASIC and FPGA development and a range of services to rapidly bring your design to a successful conclusion. The Gleichmann ASIC Development Centre has a team of engineers dedicated to supporting customer designs. GE-Research has built strong relationships with their FPGA and ASIC suppliers and has successfully completed many designs.
Together with the University of Vienna and the University of Applied Science in Hagenberg, the Research Centre in Hagenberg is developing future high-end solutions for the embedded processor market. These solutions include highly sophisticated ASIC development tools of the same quality as GE-Research's Hpe development boards, and software tools such as JTAG debugger and SEmulator, a hardware accelerator and co-simulator that use the FPGA and components on the FPGA development board (Hardware-in-the-Loop).
Available Products
GE-Research currently provides the products shown in Tables 1 and 2.
| Table 1. Development Systems | ||
| Product | Description | Supported Altera® Devices |
|---|---|---|
| A low-cost flexible FPGA and ASIC development system that enables complete system design and development. | ||
| ARM-MPS | Designed in partnership by ARM® and Gleichmann Research the Microcontroller Prototyping System is the most powerful and flexible platform for developing Cortex-M-class prototypes. | Stratix III |
| Hpe_IRP | Industrial Reference Platform based on Intel® AtomTM and an Arria® GX FPGA connected together with PCI Express to support customer-specific interface and logic requirements. The Industrial Reference Platform is a highly scalable and re-configurable (proof-of-concept) platform targeted at low-power, high-performance industrial automation applications. | Arria GX |
| Hpe-mini | An FPGA and ASIC system-on-chip (SOC) development tool with variants to create simplified or complex CPU systems. | Cyclone® II |
| Paris-1 | A microcontroller development platform that enables development and prototyping of scaleable reference designs for automotive infotainment systems such as: head-end, drivers assistance, and navigation. Add-on hardware modules, reference designs and software support is available. Designs can be ported to Altera’s automotive-grade Cyclone III FPGAs or HardCopy® II ASICs. | HardCopy II Cyclone III |
| Table 2. Software Tool Support | ||
| Product | Description | Supported Altera Devices |
|---|---|---|
| Hpe_JTAG | Hpe_JTAG is a tool for interactive debugging of PCBs, including those with ball grid arrays. It enables full use of the possibilities of the IEEE Standard 1149.1 at much less cost than high-end JTAG tools. It offers a comfortable graphical user interface and automation of repetitive tasks. This tool is free with all of our FPGA development platforms. | All Altera FPGA families |
| SEmulator | An FPGA development system that allows cores to be tested in hardware at a very early stage in development. | Stratix and Arria FPGA families |
