SerialLite Reference Design
from
Important Notice
This reference design is now obsolete. The next generation of lightweight serial interconnect, Seriallite II, provides more bandwidth (2x) and enhanced functionality.
Features
- Clock and data recovery
- 8B/10B encoding and decoding
- Point-to-point, serial, packet-based interconnect
- One lane (1×) serial differential signaling at nominal baud rates from 1 Gbps to 3.125 Gbps (decoded data rates from 800 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps)
- Data packet size: minimum 1 byte; no maximum
- Synchronous operation
- Error detection
- Low protocol overhead
- Low logic usage
- Low point-to-point transfer latency
- Inter-frame gaps are not required
- Atlantic™ interface with configurable bus width
General Description
SerialLite is a lightweight, point-to-point serial protocol. Its low protocol overhead, low gate count, and minimum data transfer latency make it suitable for both packet and streaming data applications. The SerialLite protocol defines packet encapsulation at the link layer and data encoding at the physical layer. Italso integrates transparently with existing networks without software support.
The SerialLite Reference Design is compliant with all applicable standards, including:
