EU Directive Compliance

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2002/95/EC)

Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) is a directive of the European Parliament and Council on the restriction of the usage of certain hazardous substances, including: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and polybrominated  biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ethers used in electrical and electronic equipment.   The directive restricts the use of these substances in all new electrical and electronic equipment marketed as of July 1, 2006. However, exemptions for limited usage and applications are provided.

Since August 13, 2004, all Altera® Pb-free products have met the lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, and polybrominated  biphenyls or polybrominated diphenyl ethers usage restrictions as required by RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC/.

Altera has established a procedure through supply chain management and manufacturing process qualification to make sure materials used in its products do not violate the usage of restricted hazardous substances listed on various industrial regulations. Altera’s Pb-free products are in full compliance with current RoHS requirements.
