Problem

Are the configuration files for Stratix® II EP2S60 Engineering Sample (ES) devices and EP2S60 devices compatible?

Solution

No, the configuration files for EP2S60 ES devices and EP2S60 production devices are not be compatible. EP2S60 production devices cannot be configured by EP2S60 ES device configuration files, and vice versa. This is because the issues affecting the EP2S60 ES devices are fixed in EP2S60 production devices. Please visit Stratix II FPGA Family Errata Sheet for information about the issues affecting the EP2S60 ES devices. To make sure the Quartus II software generates the correct configuration file, designers must select the EP2S60 ES ordering codes when compiling for EP2S60 ES devices and the EP2S60 production ordering codes when compiling for EP2S60 production devices.
