Altera Programming Cable Driver Information

Home > Support > Design Software > Driver Installation

Some Altera® products require drivers. For example, you must set up the correct driver before you can use an Altera download cable or programming unit to program devices with Quartus® II or MAX+PLUS® II software.

Note: All cable drivers are not available for download on this page, they are available upon Quartus II software installation at the <Quartus II Installation Directory>\drivers directory.

Table 1 provides driver installation and set-up procedures for the Windows versions of Quartus II and MAX+PLUS II software. Table 2 provides driver set-up procedures for UNIX and Linux versions of Quartus II and MAX+PLUS II software.

Notes:

  1. Windows ME, Windows 95, and Windows 3.X operating systems are not supported by current versions of the Quartus II or MAX+PLUS II software, and Altera does not provide drivers for programming hardware for those versions of Windows.
  2. Windows Vista (64-bit) and Windows XP (64-bit) operating systems do not support ByteBlaster cables.
  3. A driver is required if the T-guard is connected to a parallel port other than LPT1.
