Using the Precision Physical Synthesis Software with the Quartus II Software

You can use the Mentor Graphics Precision Physical Synthesis software to perform physical synthesis on a design in conjunction with the Quartus II software. For best results when using the physical synthesis features in the Precision Physical Synthesis software, Mentor Graphics recommends using the Precision Physical Synthesis graphical user interface, and the Precision Physical Synthesis place and route integration to run the Quartus II software.

To use the Precision Synthesis software as the physical synthesis tool:

  1. On the Assignments menu, click EDA Tool Settings.

  2. Click Physical Synthesis.

  3. In the Tool name list, select Precision Physical.

  4. Click OK.

A Verilog Quartus Mapping File (.vqm) and PSD Output File are created in the <project name>\resynthesis\precision\ directory as <project name>.vqm and <project name>.psd when you run the Precision Physical Synthesis software with the Quartus II software.

For more information on using the Precision RTL Synthesis software for design entry/synthesis with your Quartus II design, see the "Mentor Graphics Precision RTL Synthesis Support" chapter in volume 1 of the Quartus II Handbook. For information on using the physical synthesis features in Precision Physical Synthesis go to http://www.mentor.com.
