56 G PAM4 Next Generation Transceiver Technology:

High-speed serial transceivers form the backbone of today’s large-scale data centers, cloud computing, and wireless applications that require increased bandwidth at lower power and minimum cost per bit. Next-generation transceiver technology is incorporated into the Intel® Stratix® 10 device family. The dual-mode transceivers are capable of 56 Gbps PAM4 and 30 Gbps NRZ modulation enabling the next generation high-speed interconnects while minimizing insertion loss and cross-talk at terabit data rates. The new standard supports both optical and copper interfaces for applications including chip-to-chip, backplane, and direct-attach cable.
