Description
You can upgrade your Nios embedded processor system to use Nios II by following the instructions in AN 350: Upgrading Nios Processor Systems to the Nios II Processor. This document can be found in the Nios II installation at <Nios II install>/documents/an350.pdf and on the Nios II literature page - http://www.altera.com/literature/lit-nio2.jsp in the Application Note section. You can update your system to use your existing Nios software application code with the Nios II processor or you can update your software to use the Nios II Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL).
