Why does the rx_ingress_timestamp value vary by up to 200ns during the IEEE 1588v2 operation with Low Latency Ethernet 10G MAC IP?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description The Low Latency Ethernet 10G MAC IP may transmit incorrect ingress timestamp and cause about 200ns inaccuracy in 1588 operation at 10G link speed. This is caused by the most significant bit (MSB), bit[15] of rx_path_delay_10g_data being dropped when “Use legacy Ethernet 10G MAC XGMII Interface” option is enabled.
Resolution

To work around this problem, for Quartus® Prime software version 16.0, download and install patch 0.04 from the links below. You must install the Quartus Prime software version 16.0 before installing this patch.

For the Quartus Prime software version 16.0.1, download and install patch 1.04 from the links below. You must install the Quartus Prime software version 16.0.1 before installing this patch.

After installing the patch, regenerate the Low Latency Ethernet 10G MAC IP core before recompile the design. This problem will be fixed in a future version of the Quartus Prime software.
