Course Description

In this introductory training, you will become familiar with the basics of the easy-to-use Quartus® Prime software design environment. You will learn about the steps involved in the basic FPGA design flow and how to use the Quartus Prime software in the flow, going from design entry to device programming all within one tool. Project creation and management, assignments, and simulation are also covered. Short demos of the Quartus Prime Software, version 15.1, highlight all steps in the design flow.

At Course Completion

You will be able to:

  • Use the New Project Wizard to create new projects
  • Use the IP Catalog and IP Parameter Editor to easily create, configure, and instantiate IP cores
  • Review output information in the Compilation Report
  • Control design processing and hardware options using settings and assignments
  • Create I/O assignments using the Pin Planner
  • Perform a design simulation in a 3rd-party simulation tool
  • Program an Altera® FPGA or CPLD with the Quartus Prime Programmer
