You may receive this error message when you install the USB-Blaster™ programming cable driver in Windows XP or Windows 2000.
To correctly install the driver, use the Found New Hardware wizard that starts the first time you plug the USB-Blaster cable into the PC. Do not use the Add Hardware wizard from the Control Panel.
If you get this error, uninstall the USB-Blaster driver then reinstall it, using the following procedures.
Driver Uninstallation Instructions for Windows XP and 2000
- Plug the USB-Blaster cable into the PC.
- On the taskbar, click Start then click Settings and then click Control Panel. Double-click System.
- On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager
- Under Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click the Altera USB-Blaster device, and click Uninstall on the pop-up menu
- Unplug the USB-Blaster.
- Restart Windows.
